# 3.5 Modos

De modo similar ao usado para construir a escala menor natural, ou seja, ter sido usado o 6º grau como ponto de partida (tónica) para o início de uma nova escala, os restantes graus da escala maior podem ser usados para se obterem outras. Estas novas escalas, pela sua sequência interna de tons e meios-tons que será distinta em cada uma delas, irão proporcionar sonoridades diferentes. São estes os sete modos que se podem obter, se se construírem escalas a partir de cada um dos graus da escala maior: Jónio, Dórico, Frígio, Lídio, Mixolídio, Eólio e Lócrio.
